It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means . . . it’s time for another installment of Tips & Tricks! Today we’re going to talk about the importance of engagement on social media.
As we mentioned in the past, we encourage all of you to post at least twice per day on social media. One post should be business-related, and the other post should be a reflection of who you are as a person. This could be a funny video, a meme, a quote—whatever you can find to highlight parts of your personality. There are a few reasons we suggest a non-business related post, and we’re going to explain why today.
What is Social Media Engagement & Why is it Important?
Engagement can be a number of actions, depending on the platform (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
Any time someone likes, comments, shares, or retweets, they are engaging with you. This is important when building your online brand and business because it shows people have their eyes on you and they feel comfortable enough to interact with you.
Engagement increases visibility, and the more visible you are, the better chance you have of success! It’s important to keep your brand at the top of newsfeeds, and the more engagement you get, the more “relevant” your posts become to your audience.
How Can I Increase My Engagement?
This is a great question with a variety of answers.
1) Post More Images.
Research shows that posts with images have an 85% interaction rate compared to 4% for other kinds of posts. That’s a huge difference!
2) Ask Questions.
What’s the easiest way to get someone to answer something?
Ask them something!
In case you haven’t noticed, we’re pretty big fans of asking questions around here. A Simple “how are you doing today” will go a long way in terms of engagement. Ask your audience to weigh in on something. Anything. Ask for their opinion. Ask them to offer some advice. Post a poll and ask them to share why they voted a specific way. Remember that people love to be heard, so give them a place to be heard.
3) Share Contests and Giveaways.
We have giveaways from time to time, so don’t forget to share them when we do! People love a chance a free stuff, and we usually require they do some form of interaction in order to be entered to win.
4) Share Funny Content.
People love to laugh, perhaps more than anything else. Sharing funny content is always a great way to boost engagement.
5) Offer Value.
Everyone is searching for value in their life, even if it’s something “small.”
Valuable content is anything you can offer to help someone else (kind of like this blog, actually!) Go Live on Facebook, share webinar videos, share blogs or infographs. Post interesting or educational articles.
We hope this helps you boost your engagements.
And as always, if you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out. We’re always here!
